My second visit to Almaty, the former capital of Kazakhstan, had not only beautiful weather to offer but also lots of things to explore. We started our day by walking to a cable car taking us on top of a mountain called “kok tobe” which offers a nice view on the city. Located up there is a huge radio tower and a weird amusement park including a little zoo. Afterwards we took the new build metro to the “green market”, which seems to be the city centre. There is a beautiful cathedral located in the nearby park which reminded me of moscows cathedrals. Undeniable is the sovjet influence into Kazakhstan´s culture as everything is written in cyrillic and most of the city was build during that time.
